I saw in a local Wal-Mart ad that they were featuring a 32″ TV of another brand for $550. In the aisle in front of the electronics department was this television for $500. A larger screen for $50 less? How could I not? When the cashier was ringing me up, he asked if I wanted to buy the extended warranty on it. I believe this is the first time I’ve ever bought the extended warranty on it and, at the moment, I’m relieved that I did.

I have now had the TV for one year. About six weeks ago, my TV turned off on its own…I turned it back on. About 30 minutes later, it did the same thing…turned it back on. Ever since, it does the same thing. Occasionally it will turn off and turn back on about 5 seconds later only to show a dropped cable signal.

I contacted Olevia’s support line through their website and was informed that I should try to take certain steps to ensure that there was not a problem with the power supply. The representative then told me that otherwise it would be a problem with the mother board and that Olevia was now bankrupt and could not honor the manufacturer’s warranty as they had now been bought out and the warranty was voided. I then informed the rep that I bought the extended warranty through Wal-Mart and he told me that I would have to wait until the manufacturer’s warranty (….that was now voided?) ran out to try to get it repaired through Wal-Mart.

I am going through the steps to do so. If you find a television through this company and you just can’t pass up the price, BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!!!!

Only thing would have been better if all the assorted accesory jacks had not all been on the back of the set. Some on side or bottom would be a big improvement. Mainly because I have it mounted on the wall. No problem if mounted on the stand.

“I bought this tv a few weeks ago for our kids to use for their viewing. (XBOX 360/ WII, ..etc.) The XBOX 360 graphics when using HDMI are incredible.

Sound is good enough. FWIW, the headphone jack is a nice feature for use w/ wireless headphones. i.e. The kids can put on headphones and “voila!” peace and quiet.

HD channels are very crisp/clear. Standard def is pretty good also. (standard def depends alot on signal strength from your cable provider.)

Overall I gave the tv a 5-star rating b/c of the low price and reasonable performance ratio. This is not a high-end Sharp or Sony so I am not considering that in the review. It is however several hundred dollars less that the high end.”

I purchased this product on Black Friday as an early Christmas gift. It’s my first flat panel HD TV. I bought it on the specs, the Philips name and the price.

Set up was a snap. It took longer to get it out of the box than to get it operational. The remote is intuitive. The on screen menus are simple and straightforward.

For me coming from a traditional TV, the picture is outstanding. Colors are rich and lush. The blacks are black. The detail is amazing. You can see the pores on news anchors’ skin. The screen is viewable from multiple angles.

Speakers are hidden within the unit’s case. Sound quality is excellent.

Setting up other devices (DVD player, game console) was simple. It has more connectors than I expect I’ll need (at least for now).

This unit provides a lot of value.

We bough this tv 1 year ago. it broke down last week we had two weeks on the warrenty so i called them and what a joke. they ask me to fax the reciept which i did they informed me that they will let me know in two days where to send the unit a week later no e-mail. called them with an avergae waiting time 45-60 minute, Been transfered 3-4 times to tell me that they have not got the fax and have to fax it again. Now it has been 18 days waiting for the e-mail nothing yet(i hope american express will do the replacemnet for me soon)Olevia they have the most deplorable customer service. thankfully this one broke within the warranty period of the first year (which should tell you something right there).

It is such a headache getting any warranty service from Olevia that it is almost worth buying a new set from someone else (go to COSTCO).or buy extended warrenty

37″ for less than $600…I got this set in February of 2007. I have used it as my bedroom set. The picture is amazing with my TWC HD Cable box and with my upconverting dvd.

There are two issues that one should be aware of. First – limited jacks and lack of tuner, but you knew that.

Second issue: when the tv is off, superbright blue light comes on. If you use this in the bedroom it can be very annoying at night. The light is very very bright at night. I ended up taking a piece of dark scotch tape and covering the light – now it is fine.

Other than the annoying blue light. the picture is excellent and I recommend this as super value.
